Features In Wiki Software For Facilitating Consensus

The central question I had for this session was, why is it that Mediawiki is one of the only wiki engines out there with a focus on features/pages that help the community communicate with itself and build consensus -- specifically things like "talk pages"? To develop a consensus, it seems to me that it's useful to have a good way to air everyone's individual viewpoints. Even Mediawiki needs work in this department, as most people acknowledge that "talk pages" are not the ideal tool for facilitating complex discussions with many participants.

Session merged with WikiForLargeScaleConsensus.
